Welcome

November 2, 2010 Election - Update

After much consideration, listening to and reading what candidates have to say, I am supporting the following individuals in the 2010 Election.

Apple Valley Town Council

  • Curt Emick
  • Scott Nassif
  • Peter W. Allan

These gentlemen will continue to move Apple Valley forward into the future. They understand that to attract jobs that pay well, we need to ensure that North Apple Valley has the final pieces of the puzzle in place, such as water and sewer infrastructure. They also understand that for the long-term benefit of the Town facilities such as the country club, aquatics center, and other facilities and activities for our residents (for ALL ages, groups, and income levels) are needed. Not only will these benefit our existing and future residents, but they will be one more attraction for businesses to locate in Apple Valley. If they are not maintained and expanded, the Town will become an eyesore and unattractive. These gentlemen will ensure that this DOES NOT happen.

Apple Valley Unified School District

  • Lisa Lawrence
  • Wilson So
  • Richard Sauers

We need to maintain a cohesive and cooperative Board to ensure the continued success of our students during these difficult times.

Apple Valley Fire Protection District

  • Larry Cusack
  • Rick Piercy

The Apple Valley Fire Protection District is a premier District, with individuals who are committed to our community. As with the Town and any other governmental entity, the District has experienced decreased revenues and increased expenses (one example is dispatch services. A few years ago these services were given over to the County Communications center. At that time they cost the district around $180,000. This year’s bill? OVER $600,000!! Just how is contracting with the County saving us money?!!) It is not in the best interest of our community to contract services through the County, since it would restrict the local control that we all want, in many cases those contracts cost more and more money (see above about dispatch services) and the Town would be forced to either cut service or take more money from its general fund (and away from other services for our citizens). These gentlemen in concert with the rest of the Board work hard to ensure that service is not reduced to our community while living within their budget.
